Who we are
CD Salus was founded by Elliot Costello and Daniel Dao in 2020 after they observed the devastation the COVID-19 pandemic was having on Australia’s most vulnerable people and the emerging outcomes from the Australian Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.
This led them on a path of examining the delivery of aged and home care (aging at home and those with physical or cognitive disabilities) and the role of new and innovative technologies in this. From this they observed a gap in the products and services available to ensure people could stay living healthier and happier lives in their homes longer.
It was then that CD Salus was formed.
The business is named after Salus, who was the Roman goddess of safety, health and wellbeing.
In addition to Elliot & Daniel, the CD Salus team also composes members with extensive experience in medicine, mental health, commercialising a range of products and working with businesses from around the globe.
What we do
We are acutely aware of the challenges that our elders and those living with disabilities and chronic conditions face each day.
CD Salus partners with international manufacturers and suppliers to deliver high-quality and innovative health-related products that support Australians to continue to live independently in their homes thereby improving their happiness, wellness and healthspan.
Why we do it
Our expert, professional and focussed team understands Australia’s healthcare landscape and we are committed to our mission, vision and culture.
Australia has a rapidly ageing population, the number of people aged 85 years and over has increased by over 117.1 percent in the past 20 years, compared to a total population growth of just over 34.8 percent over the same period.
Multiple studies and surveys have shown 80–90 percent of elders prefer to age at home. This is affirmed by the Final Report of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety Research which stated that “Most older people want to remain living in their own homes, rather than moving to residential aged care”. Despite all of this, Australia has the highest rate of people living in aged care facilities in the world.
Not only does research across the globe confirm that independent living at home leads to better mental and physical health outcomes thereby improving people’s healthspan, there are financial benefits also, home health care is less expensive than live-in facilities.
CD Salus is working to ensure elders, those with disabilities, chronic conditions no matter where they live can continue to live fulfilled, happy and healthy lives from the confidence that comes from living in your own home. At the same time, we are also working to ensure caregivers and family members are supported and have peace of mind.
